Course Details

BHMCT, or Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, is a four-year professional undergraduate course offered by a number of Indian universities. The course is specifically designed for students who want to work in the hospitality industry. 

The course is designed to prepare enthusiastic students for careers in the hospitality industry. Food Production, Housekeeping Operations, Catering Services, Communication Fundamentals, Accommodation Operations, Basic Accounting, Management Principles, and Travel & Tourism are all topics covered in the BHMCT curriculum.

Candidates who wish to apply for this course must have completed Class XII from a recognised board. Admission to the course is based on either the Common Entrance Test (CET) of universities or on merit, i.e., the marks obtained in the class XII examination. College or university fees can range from INR 2.5 to 5 Lakhs on average. However,  the course fee for Private and public colleges differ. A fresh BHMCT graduate can easily expect a salary ranging from INR 2 to 5 Lakhs. Students who complete this bachelor's degree programme in hotel management and catering technology can find work in the hotel industry as well as many other sectors such as tourism, airlines, food craft institutes, cruise ships, and so on. Steward, Front Office Manager, Bartender, Receptionist, Housekeeping Supervisor, Sous-Chef, and other job profiles are available to students. Further education in any relevant field is also an option.

The main aim of the four-year course is to make students familiar with management techniques, processes, and methods used in hotel and hospitality businesses. The key areas of BHMCT are accounts, desktop, administration, front office, housekeeping, catering, maintenance, security, and catering. With India being one of the major hubs in the hotel management industry, there’s no dearth of jobs and employment opportunities in this sector as it is the second biggest employer across the country after IT and software industry.
